April 2014 Mix

Felix Magath

Just when I thought I might be getting tired of new music, this past month comes along and drops 6 excellent albums on my earholes:

  • The War on Drugs – Lost in the Dream: Probably my indie-rock album of the year.
  • Mac Demarco – Salad Days: Sad I wasn’t able to make it to Durham before his show at Duke Coffeehouse was already sold out.
  • Madlib & Freddie Gibbs – Pinata: Probably my hip-hop album of the year.  Instant classic.
  •  Black Milk – Glitches in the Break:  Black Milk getting a little bit weird, but it works wonderfully.
  • Real Estate – Atlas:  The soundtrack for laying on your hammock on a warm spring day.
  • Denmark Vessey – Cult Classic: Mad slept on.  I’ve heard absolutely zero internet chatter about this one.

Hell, I even liked Jon Dwyer’s Damaged Bug album pretty well.
